Burner releases first TV ad

Democratic Congressional candidate Darcy Burner has released her first television ad Monday, her campaign said.

The 60-second spot, which highlights Burner's personal biography and spotlights some of her key campaign positions, introduces the candidate to the airwaves in the 8th Congressional District.

Burner (D-Carnation) is in the middle of a tight race with two-term incumbent U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Bellevue), a former King County Sheriff.

Reichert defeated Burner 51-48 in a 2006 race for the seat, but Burner holds a fundraising advantage over her opponent, and many expert observers consider the race a toss-up.

Burner posts $579K in campaign donations for 2Q

Congressional candidate Darcy Burner (D-Carnation) posted second quarter campaign donations totaling $579,023.82 without considering a surge of goodwill submissions after the loss of her home to fire.

Burner's campaign reported $1,248,377.34 cash on hand to the Federal Elections Commission following the June 30th reporting deadline for second quarter donations.

Second quarter proceeds for the Republican incumbent in the 8th Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Auburn),
had yet to be published on the FEC website as of
Wednesday afternoon. Coming into the second quarter, which started April 1, Reichert reported a cash on hand war chest of $698,035.

Reichert defeated Burner in a close election for the 8th District seatin 2006.
