The Seattle Times' David Postman is reporting that Jason Osgood, a 40 year old computer programmer and prominent blogger from Seattle, will file as a Democrat for Secretary of State. Osgood, who has never run for office before, gained some press last year when he helped stop King County from spending a third of a million dollars on an ill-conceived ballot tracking program.
Postman goes further into Osgood's opposition to ballot tracking, Secretary of State Sam Reed's standing in the election reform crowd in his article, found here.
Mark Greene's Switch to Secretary of State Election
PolitickerWA.com recently ran a swell article about Mark Greene's previous candidacy for Congress in the 8th District, but Mark has switched to running for Secretary of State, which he officially filed his candidacy for on June 2nd, and the reason can be found on the Evergreen Senator blog.
Mark, a big supporter of Top 2 and the chairman of a committee that helped get the Top 2 initiative on the ballot, will be writing a report about the Secretary of State job, which will include his ideas on how that office should operate. (eom)
