CHRISTOPHER TUDOR TO USE ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION
TO REGISTER FOR 2008 WASHINGTON STATE GOVERNOR'S ELECTION
Independent Candidate to Ride Sounder Commuter Rail, Public Shuttle and His Bicycle to Olympia
SEATTLE, Tuesday, June 3 - Christopher Tudor a local hotel owner, entrepreneur, and life-long resident of Washington State, will make his candidacy for the 2008 election for the office of governor official June 4 by visiting the Capitol Building via alternative means of transportation, including commuter rail, public shuttle and his bicycle, to register as an independent candidate.
"I want to embrace the use of public transportation to illustrate how we can all do more to help solve the issues our citizens continue to face with regards to the economy and environment," said Tudor, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Travelodge Board within the Wyndham Worldwide hospitality company.
On Wednesday, June 4 at 6:10 a.m., Tudor will embark on Sound Transit's Sounder Commuter Rail departing from Seattle's King Street Station heading to the Tacoma Dome Station. Following his 10 a.m. arrival in Tacoma, he will board Pierce County Transit Bus #1 to Roy, WA. After visiting Roy's Bar & Grill, a favorite breakfast stop for local residents, Tudor will continue to demonstrate his commitment to alternative transportation methods and fitness by riding his bicycle to the Capitol Building in Olympia. Tudor will make additional stops in multiple communities, along the way, to meet with local business owners, residents and civic leaders.
"This trip also gives me an opportunity to meet with citizens in different communities along the route. I look forward to talking with local voters and hearing their thoughts and concerns about the policies and the issues our state faces."
Tudor's mixed-mode itinerary will conclude with his scheduled 10 a.m. arrival at the steps of the Capitol Building. He will then proceed to file his official declaration as an independent candidate for Washington State Governor at the Office of the Secretary of State located at 520 Union Ave NE in Olympia.
Tudor aspires to bring new independent insights to the 2008 governor's race, as he is committed to initiating the necessary dialogue and addressing the issues and concerns of citizens through the development of viable economic and environmentally-driven policies with measurable solutions. He further believes that the traditional reliance on the current two-party system has resulted in drastic deviations from their foundational ideals causing a divisive political landscape.
"Our State's partisan political platforms have stalled any movement on the crucial issues that matter most to Washingtonians in making our communities healthier, safer, and more efficient." Tudor said. "Transportation, education and the environment have all taken steps backward over the past four years. Both parties have proposed plans that have yet to yield adequate resolutions. It is time for our government to be more accommodating to forward-seeking ideas and innovations. We have the talent and resources to make positive steps toward the future if the obstacles of party politics are removed."
