Stephens challenger withdraws from Supreme Court race

Jack Hill, a Pierce County judge who was the sole challenger to state Supreme Court Justice Debra L. Stephens, has decided to remove his name from the ballot and withdraw from the race leaving Stephens a clear path to the seat that she was appointed to last December.

Hill told the Spokesman-Review that he continued to research Stephens and decided she was a good fit for the bench.

"I probably jumped the gun a bit in filing,”he said.
