Three days after making statements to The Columbian's editorial board that were construed by many to mean that she would be switching her superdelegate vote to Barack Obama in June, Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Seattle) tempered her words today in Spokane.
"I definitely don't want the superdelegates to be the deciding factor," she said on Monday.
"If we have a candidate who has the most delegates and the most states," Cantwell told the Vancouver paper, that would be the most important factor for the way a superdelegate should vote.
Today in Spokane Cantwell carried the same theme, that elected officials should let the voters have their say, but made it clear that the race was far from over.
"I'm not going to make any decisions about anything until all the states have voted," Cantwell told the Spokesman-Review. "We had the process play out here and I think it's important to let the rest of the states have their say...I'm not considering anything at this point in time except for letting the process play out."
Cantwell endorsed Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Presidential nomination on December 31, 2007.
Although the deadline to register to vote by mail passed on Saturday, you still have until Oct. 20 to register in person.
