The Seattle Times' David Postman has a blog post up investigating further into the claims made by a columnist in a BIAW newsletter that environmentalists are akin to Nazis. Yesterday the state Democratic Party called on Dino Rossi to denounce the BIAW for the editorial.
Postman argued that the BIAW was dangerously overexaggerating , but the interest group stood its ground. Upon being confronted by Postman over evidence by leading scholars in the field who disagreed with the idea, the author Mark Musser was defiant.
I could see a lot of reasons why people would want to deny this, or minimize this, because it’s too shocking, too hard to believe. ‘How could the Nazis be environmentalists?’ I think you’re minimizing it, which I shouldn’t be surprised by.
