The state Democratic Party sent out an e-mail today announcing that Peter Goldmark will officially kick off his campaign for Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands, hoping to unseat incumbent Doug Sutherland. Goldmark, who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in the 5th District in 2006, will be joined at the event by Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer.
Goldmark bills himself on his website as "a lifelong rancher, scientist, wheat breeder, longtime school board member, former WSU regent and state Director of Agriculture" and claims to "have the unique experience needed to take on this important job and make some critical changes."
He has also released a video on youtube highlighting his goals and experience. The kickoff will take place April 7 in downtown Seattle.
Although the deadline to register to vote by mail passed on Saturday, you still have until Oct. 20 to register in person.
