On Tuesday, October 21, 2008, independent candidates for President and Vice-President – Ralph Nader and Matt Gonzalez – will speak about the 2008 election and the future of citizen action in the United States during an appearance at Seattle’s Town Hall. Nader and Gonzalez will specifically address the Wall Street bailout, the current financial crisis, and the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which Nader warned the House Financial Services Committee about during testimony delivered in 2000.
The Nader/Gonzalez candidacy will be on the ballot in 45 states and the District of Columbia – more ballot lines than Nader’s 2000 campaign – and is polling at 5-6 percent nationally. A new Time/CNN poll shows Nader polling at 8 percent in New Mexico, 7 percent in Colorado, 7 percent in Pennsylvania, and 6 percent in Nevada - all key swing states.
