Politico: Boeing keeping McCain at arm's length in Washington

Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is facing a political headwind from the breath of Boeing here in Washington state, according to a report from Politico.com's Jeanne Cummings.

She cites the relative success of Dino Rossi (R-Sammamish) in his race to unseat Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire, and Rep. Dave Reichert's (R-Auburn) ability to keep his race a tossup in the 8th Congressional District.

Both Republicans have held polling leads during the campaign, although their opponents are currently on top.

Similar races across the country have been riding a strong wave behind Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) to lean Democratic.

McCain has taken many legislative stands against Boeing, and has even mentioned them during presidential debates this fall.

Those same stands, that most recently resulted in Boeing losing out on a major Air Force contract, held political ramifications for Washington's  federal delegation, most of whom have safe seats here in the state.

Not Reichert, though, and the issue has played a role in his race against Democratic challenger Darcy Burner (D-Carnation). Her campaign has accused Reichert of taking money from Boeing competitors, money he later returned.

Dave Reichert supports Boeing workers

One of the more shameful attacks by Darcy Burner's in this campaign has been her trying to divide people by saying Dave Reichert does not support Boeing workers. Just think how ridiculous that is - that ANY member of the WA state delegation, R or D, would not support Boeing workers! Read the link to the Politico article - Dave Reichert has been a huge supporter of Boeing workers. No member of Congress has more Boeing workers in their district than Dave Reichert - 19,000. Dave has been a staunch supporter of the Boeing tanker bid. He never accepted any money from EADS/Airbus lobbyists (look it up) yet that is a lie Darcy Burner tells voters in the taxpayer-paid Voter Guide that you get with your ballot. To twist that around and lie to Boeing workers - while they have had to endure a long strike - speaks volumes about the lack of integrity Darcy Burner has. But then, what do you expect from someone who would invent a degree they don't have from Harvard? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eH6URZjgjU
