No, the economic meltdown didn't turn his numbers around. President Bush's job approval ratings are still upside down with only 30 percent approving and 68 percent disapproving. His approval ratings have been stuck at nearly this same level since February.

Just a day after the release of the budget projection numbers, Gov. Chris Gregoire's campaign has gone on the air with a radio ad tying Dino Rossi to the economic legacy of President Bush.

The ad, called "Bush Pray", brings up a state Senate Ways and Means Committee resolution from April 7, 2003, which included a provision stating, "NOW, THEREFORE, Your Memorialists respectfully pray that our elected Representatives and Senators in the United States Congress support and vote to enact President Bush's 2002 Economic Growth and Tax Relief Plan."

Rossi, as chairman of that committee, brought the resolution to a vote and supported it.

Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Seattle), the long-serving 7th District U.S. Congressman, made remarks on the House floor this morning in favor of the impeachment of President George W. Bush. He said that, after a long struggle with the implication of one of the House's "gravest" decisions,  he was signing onto a resolution to consider the impeachment of President Bush based on evidence from three new books by Ron Suskind, Vincent Bugliosi and Bob Woodward.

McDermott spokesman Mike DeCesare said Rep. McDermott would not speculate as to whether or not he thought the call for impeachment would be widespread among Democrats, and did not think it would hurt Democrats' electoral chances in the fall.

While Republicans were trying to ridicule Gov. Gregoire last week for attending the Democratic National Convention the week before, the Gregoire campaign gave Rossi some grief for skipping the Republican National Convention by way a of a web video.

Implying that Rossi was aligned with President George W. Bush in skipping this year's RNC in an attempt to, in Bush's case distance himself for the party's sake and in Rossi's case distance himself for his own sake, the Gregoire camp uses the video to try to further tie Rossi to the unpopular Bush.

 "What else do they have in common?" the video asks, then lists a number of mainly social issues where Rossi and Bush have similar stances.

"On every issue George Bush and Dino Rossi are the same," the video claims. "We deserve better."
