PDC says pro-Rossi industry groups violated law

The Public Disclosure Commission decided earlier today to notify the office of Attorney General Rob McKenna of multiple violations of state campaign finance laws by the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties and the Building Industry Association of Washington's Member Services Corporation.

The PDC ruled that MBA-KSC has been acting as a political committee since January, 2006 when it began soliciting and receiving contributions to advocate for and against candidates and political committees. According to the PDC, the group raised and spent more than $400,000 for such purposes without disclosing the source of the contributions.

The BIAW's Member Services Corporation, on the other hand, solicited and received money to be used by the BIAW's ChangePAC beginning in 2007. The amount contributed without public disclosure from the corporation amounted to almost $600,000.

Rep. Roach must refund campaign cash

However both the PDC and Roach characterized the instance as a misunderstanding of the rules.
