Burner pushes economy in CD8

The Darcy Burner (D-Carnation) campaign for Congress has sent out a series of press releases asking for a comprehensive economic plan from Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Auburn) over the course of the past seven days. They assert that Reichert is balking at the question of whether or not he agrees with the direction the Bush administration has taken the American economy.

The claims come amid news that national and state unemployment levels have increased, and massive Wall Street bankruptcies have brought about a trillion dollar federal bailout.

"The truth is that Congressman Reichert has offered no solutions on the economy beyond parroting the Bush-McCain line. Nothing, nada, zip," said Sandeep Kaushik, spokesman for the Burner campaign. "He's trying to avoid the issue because he supports more of the same failed Bush-McCain policies. Isn't it time that he leveled with voters about his plan for the economy?"

Dave Reichert's campaign has created another web video advertisement, adding to the two they created last week that will cater to specific internet traffic areas of 8th Congressional District voters. This new video focuses on the economy, and echoes a letter he wrote to the editor of the Puget Sound Business Journal this past Friday calling for more free market solutions to economic problems.

"We're excited to continue rolling out these web ads to spread Dave's message," said Amanda Halligan on behalf of the Reichert campaign. "It's an innovative, targeted tool to educate and inform the tech-savvy voters of the Eighth District."

The web ad will link to a page on Reichert's campaign website that talks about his economic plan which highlights lower taxes, greater health care choice, alternative and nuclear energy plans and science education.
