Rossi bends rules again

By now we all know that gubernatorial challenger Dino Rossi likes to bend the rules, particularly as they relate to campaign finance.

It started with his nonprofit Forward Washington Foundation, which barely escaped condemnation by the PDC for use of a loophole that allowed him to campaign through the nonprofit without disclosing his donors. Then Niki Sullivan at the TNT looked into a Rossi fundraiser held by a nonprofit Christian organization. Such political fundraising puts the nonprofit’s tax exempt status into question and begs for an IRS audit. Ms. Sullivan even found the prayer said over those Rossi fundraising envelopes.

Now, we’ve got more questions about a Rossi fundraiser held on federal property at Whidbey Naval Air Station.

Navy policy disallows “use of installation facilities by candidates … for political campaign or election events, including: public assemblies or town hall meetings, speeches, fund-raisers, press conferences, post-election celebrations, and concession addresses.”

Dino Rossi, flouting the rules yet again, spoke at the Whidbey NAS CPO Club to the Washington Association of Realtors. The Realtors had rented the facility for the occasion, which is permitted to help military installations raise extra funds, but according to Navy officials they did not mention what they were renting it for or they would have been turned away.

How many times does Dino Rossi get to bend or break the rules before it becomes a pattern of deceit?
