Old Seattle money, including Ginger Ackerley of the billboards, and several Nordstrom’s of the clothing store, wrote checks to Dino Rossi for over a thousand. Newcomers the Hotel Max and Hotel Murano also comp Rossi with more than a room, and, as expected, any company with “sand & gravel” in its name can be mined for Rossi contributions.

Governor Chris Gregoire just emerged from under the fundraising ban with no noteworthy players in her recent reports, but an upcoming visit from Governor Bill Richardson is ringing up some cash.

On the expenditure side, the majority of Rossi’s budget goes to his consultants – communications consultants, direct mail consultants, and fundraising consultants, and so far only the latter appear to be earning their keep. Gregoire’s top expenses are her staff, who also have yet to prove their worth.
