Senate Majority Leader and Obama endorser Lisa Brown is looking to hire a surrogate to increase her name recognition on the Westside of the mountains. We suppose she wants her accomplishments recognized as well.
The Spokane lawmaker’s name has been floated for governor for many years, but she lacks the roots in Western Washington that any candidate for governor needs to win. Others have suggested that she run for another statewide office first to build name recognition, but she’s not a lawyer so the Attorney General pit stop is out and running for Treasurer wouldn’t accomplish the goal (quick, name the state Treasurer). The last time Washington had a governor from the Inland was in 1933.
With a surrogate who knows Seattle to help her build a Westside organization over the next four years, and with her son off to college by 2012, Lisa Brown could be a gubernatorial contender.
